Relaxation Flow Massage

Relaxation flow massage is a combination of relaxing and flowing movements that are derived from the Swedish and Lomi Lomi traditions. This type of massage is nurturing, tranquil, and calming. It is rhythmic and soothing to the nervous system. My style is inspired by a workshop training program at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur California. It focuses on integrating the whole being by using long fluid strokes that emphasizes the body as three dimensional. This is a great option for those wanting stress relief.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue massage targets superficial and deep muscles and fascia.  The intention is to reduce trigger points, stretch muscle and fascia, increase circulation to the tissues, reduce scar tissue, and bring tight muscles back to a normal resting state.  This option is great for people that have chronic pain or tension and that like deeper pressure.

Ashiatsu Barefoot Massage

Ashiatsu is a barefoot massage that is performed on a massage table.  The massage therapist holds onto parallel bars over head while applying foot pressure to body.  The broad nature of the foot creates a comfortable deep massage without the sharp pain of an elbow or thumb. Slow gliding strokes are performed over a broad surface area of the body helping to warm, stretch, and elongate the muscles and fascia.  Points along the body are strategically compressed to release muscle tension around the joints and spine increasing mobility.   The ability to use gravity and body weight to apply pressure enables the therapist to go deeper into the tissues.  Depth and pressure to can be adjusted to your comfort- this is not a painful technique and can be performed with a light pressure. Ashiatsu is a great modality for people that suffer from chronic pain and tension, postural imbalances, repetitive use injuries, athletes, or those that like deeper work and the technique itself.

Orthopedic Massage

A combination of Swedish, deep tissue, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, and orthopedic techniques will be utilized to address an orthopedic condition or injury. The goal is to restore the function and structures of the muscles and joints by rehabilitating soft tissues. After assessing your individual situation, the session will be geared to release tight muscles, address areas of pain, restore joint mobility, and stimulate the tissues to heal. Orthopedic injuries and conditions can be the result of poor work ergonomics, poor posture, contact sports, overuse, and repetitive activities. Conditions include, but are not limited to, tendinitis (tendinosis), plantar fasciitis, nerve compression pathologies such as sciatica and thoracic outlet syndrome, chronic neck or back pain, tennis elbow, and trigger points. A diagnosis from your physician or physical therapist helps facilitate a better treatment plan for the massage, but is not necessary.

Pregnancy (Prenatal) and Postnatal

Pregnancy (Prenatal) massage is for those wanting the soothing benefits of massage during their healthy pregnancy. Common areas of discomfort during pregnancy such as back pain, leg cramps, headaches, and foot tension are addressed.  Pregnancy massage improves blood flow and lymph circulation helping to reduce swelling in the limbs, while calming the nervous system with long comforting massage strokes. This type of massage is performed while laying on your side. Great care is taken to ensure your comfort by using cushions to support your body. Postnatal massage is designed to rejuvenate the body after vital energies are lost during labor, and to gently support your recovery.

Craniosacral Therapy

CST is a gentle therapy that works with your body’s innate healing system. The techniques were developed by Osteopath, Dr. John E. Upledger. Upledger extensively researched the Craniosacral system during his tenure at Michigan State.

During your session, you will experience a series of light touch holds around the cranium and sacrum. These techniques will catalyze your body to self-correct holding patterns in the connective tissue surrounding the central nervous system (Brain and Spinal Cord). By bringing the central nervous system back into harmony all body systems receive tremendous benefits. I highly recommend this for individuals that experience the following health concerns. Because it is such a light touch I also recommend it for the elderly.

Migraine Headaches, Chronic Neck and Back Pain, Motor-Coordination Impairments, Autism, Central Nervous System Disorders, Orthopedic Problems, Traumatic Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries, Scoliosis, Learning Disabilities, Chronic Fatigue, Emotional Difficulties, Stress and Tension-Related Problems, Fibromyalgia and other Connective-Tissue Disorders, Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome (TMJ), Neurovascular or Immune Disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Post-Surgical Dysfunction
